kent’s b-day

Today was Kent’s first birthday. We rented one of those castle things that inflate and you can jump in (you can check out pics at the link on the right) and had some nearby friends and family over for an open house. Most of our neighbors had individual parties which ended up forming a huge block party. Other than the humidity, it was a great day.

The highlight of the day for me was watching Kent eat his cake. As you can see in the video below, he’s got a special technique for tackling his birthday dessert.

Happy b-day Kent!

one more

I turned 29 a few days ago. I only have one more year until 30.

The last couple of days I’ve been doing some thinking. I’ve been evaluating who I am and what I’ve accomplished. There are some things I’m proud of, like my family, my home and my job. There are even some personal goals that I’ve reached that I’m happy with.

But then there are those “dark corners” that I don’t like to acknowledge. Those habits, personality traits, or whatever else you might call them, that leave more to be desired. I don’t expect 30 to be a magic number or the point where I must reach perfection, but there is a lot more that I desire out of myself by that point in my life.

I haven’t come up with a comprehensive list yet, but I’ve got a lot to accomplish/change in this next year. I want to make some adjustments in my life and be a better husband, father and friend to the people around me.

I’ve got my work cut out for me.
