Tonight I shared part 3 of our series, Becoming Who You Are. We covered 1 Peter 1:6-12 which talks about trials and how they affect our faith. Referring to the trials, verse 6 says, “In this you greatly rejoice.”
Being joyful about a trial or suffering is about the last thing I want to do. It’s much easier and more natural to simply try to disengage from whatever I’m experiencing. But then again, that’s usually due to a limited understanding. When we break away from that kind of thinking and we realize that God’s plan is ultimately at work, then our frustration turns to peace and even hope. The dead-end situation we are facing suddenly becomes and opportunity for growth and reliance on God. That’s when we become Hopeful Sufferers.
