the force is with you

According to this article, an 11-year-old boy fought off a man who had verbally abused and punched his mother. He reportedly hit the attacker (or he is now the victim?) with his toy lightsaber.

Um, is this strange to anyone else? It’s pretty cool that this kid was able to protect his mom, but a sixth grader scaring off a grown man?

I realize that nowadays, some sixth graders grow beards, some are so tall they can slam dunk, and others are being drafted directly into the NFL, but what are the chances this kid is one of those? And on top of this, he’s playing with a lightsaber! This is problematic for several reasons:

  1. He’s only 11…
  2. …which means he most likely didn’t grow up watching the original Star Wars movies…
  3. …which means he’s a fan of Episodes 1, 2, and/or 3…
  4. …which means he’s an uber-nerd (because, let’s face it, those movies were awful)
  5. Oh, and let’s not forget that he’s got this toy in PUBLIC…
  6. …which means, NO SHAME…
  7. …which means, little to NO SOCIAL SKILLS…
  8. …which means he probably doesn’t play group sports…
  9. …which means he’s probably not a beast of a young man…
  10. …which means the adult man probably has an unhealthy fear of toy weapons…
  11. …which is probably why the guy was PWNED!
