I uploaded the latest crewcast (the official podcast of crew) earlier tonight. You can subscribe in iTunes by searching the store for “crewcast” or go to crewcast.blogspot.com to download the mp3 directly.

lost podcast is lost
I’m a huge fan of ABC’s show, Lost. In my opinion, it’s the best show on TV, hands down. I subscribe to the podcast through iTunes (does the guy that intro’s the podcast drive anyone else nuts?). About every other time a new episode comes out, something happens to the feed and the link is broken. I’m not sure what causes it, but it’s absolutely annoying because I either have to wait a couple of days for it to reconnect, or I have to manually download it from ABC’s website and put it in iTunes.
This wouldn’t be so bad except that it takes forever to go through the pages necessary to find it. During that process, you have to fight the automatic commercials in the process. I don’t have a problem with watching an ad if I’m going to stream a TV show or other kind of video on your site ABC, but please, don’t make me watch an ad just because I went to your page. Or at least let me pause it.
Annoying.
winter retreat highlight video
When I loaded the video onto youtube somewhere in the conversion process the audio got out of sync. Fortunately, the only time you’ll notice it is during Molly’s scream, Aldo’s Xena War Cry and at the very end during Paul’s rendition of “It’s Not Unusual”.
UPDATE: I loaded the video on Google Video and the conversion didn’t suffer any audio problems. I’ve had this happen on other youtube videos. It’s really annoying.
series on dating
Tonight we started a new series: Guys and Girls.
I found the following graphic on Flickr, but since it was copyrighted, I emailed the owner (Chad) to see if I could use it. Fortunately, he responded quickly and was gracious enough to give me permission.
I added the topics and dates (click on the image to see a larger size). I also “cloned” the girl’s shirt to cover her barely exposed stomach (probably not necessary, but I didn’t want to have any issues). The original is here, for comparison. It’s cleaner and I like it that way, but I wanted to include the dates. I figure the trade-off is worth it if it means that students know what topics are going to be covered.
I had been planning on this series for weeks, but with our Winter Retreat just a week and a half ago, I didn’t have time to design anything. The “guys and girls” image fit great, so I’m thankful to Chad for his help.
I might have gotten permission to use the image, but tonight I basically “stole” my wife’s message called The Four Knows of Dating.
- Know God – we are made in His image and reflect Him
- Know Yourself – figure out who you are and don’t conform to what others want you to be
- Know your Parents – ask them about their love story and what expectations they have for you as you date
- Know your Standards – determine your guidelines and standards for dating now–before you are faced with a difficult decision
