The Stuff Christians Like blog posted this today. Too funny not to share.
nerd
I messed my cell phone up the other day trying to put some games on it. I noticed a few problems at first, but didn’t think much about it. Then today I realized a few of my menus were missing and my Inbox for text messages had disappear completely. I also couldn’t use the video feature of the phone. Things were going down hill fast.
So I went to my good friend Google. A few hacks later I got it back to normal.
I’m a nerd.
8 years
Today Bethany and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary. Bethany is absolutely amazing and I’m lucky to have found such a wonderful wife, friend and partner in ministry.
The last 8 years haven’t all been easy, but I can confidently say that my love for her and my commitment to her is stronger than it was back when we started.
I’m glad that she puts up with me in spite of all the knucklehead things I do.
We had what I can only describe as a “married people with kids” date tonight. Dinner at Chef Paul’s, ice cream at Coldstone (overrated!) and a trip to Borders to pick up a gift for Kent’s birthday. Throughout the evening we kept looking at our watches to see when we needed to get back to the kids. And, of course, we called the babysitter to make sure the boys were doing okay.
Actually, I had a great time just being with Bethany without the boys. Is that bad to say?
shopping
I’ve planned activities for our students for almost every Monday throughout the summer. For me, summer is when our youth ministry’s calendar is most full. Students have tons of free time and offering weekly events is a good way to get them to do something other than just sitting around the house.
Today we went shopping at the Aurora outlet mall. This is the second year we’ve done an all day shopping trip and quite honestly, the whole concept still alludes me. I suppose it’s because I’m a guy, but pawing through racks of clothes for hours on end just doesn’t quite do it for me.
And what’s the big deal about an “outlet” mall? Other than a couple of sales, I just wasn’t impressed. It didn’t seem like there was anything special about it.
We ended the day by going to Coldstone Creamery. If you’ve mentioned Coldstone around me, then I’m sure you’ve heard the “Overrated!” chant I typically break into (the ice cream just isn’t that great, people!). Anyway, Coldstone has redeemed itself a bit. I had one of their smoothies, and it was one of the better ones I’ve had in a while.
Anyway, it was a great day with the students and I’m shopped out until next year.
