dark knight

Thanks to my good friend Drew (and employee at the local theater) I was able to see the new Batman movie for only one dollar tonight. I’ll try to keep my comment vague so as not to spoil it for anyone.

The Dark Knight definitely does a great job picking up the themes and moods from Batman Begins. In fact I think it even takes it a step further. This is a dark film. Much of this mood is set by Heath Ledger’s performance of the Joker. I was thoroughly impressed. Joker is absolutely demented, evil and cunning.

My only complaint is the length. Some movies just stretch into eternity and unnecessarily lengthen the narrative (I’m looking at you, the end of Return of the King). But that’s not the case with the Dark Knight. The story is what makes the movie long. So one the one hand, I appreciate the complexity and depth of the story, but on the other hand, it seemed like it didn’t have to be that way. In the end, it’s pretty minor as the movie is a great experience throughout.

  1. I heard it was good, but like you said, really long.
I don’t do well with long movies. I, typically, end up falling asleep. Hahah.
