I subscribe to several podcasts and I’ve noticed that many people in the tech industry pronounce the word niche as “neesh.” I’ve always pronounced it as “nitch.”

After some googling, it seems that either pronunciation is accepted. Apparently, “neesh” is used more by people from Canada and Britain whereas “nitch” is used more by Americans.

Whenever I hear “neesh” it just grates on my ears. It sounds snooty and condescending to me. I suppose I should just get over it, but it’s one of those things that just gets to me.

So, how do you pronounce it?
