O Christmas Tree

I love Christmas. And I love watching the excitement in our boys eyes as we decorate and create memories for them.

Yesterday we decorated our Christmas tree and I decided to make a time lapse of the process. I made one last year when I put up the decorations outside, so I thought I’d make it a tradition.

The decorating process wasn’t as smooth as I wanted it to be. I’ve always started our Christmas lights at the bottom of the tree and worked my way up. That way I can keep the lights plugged in and see how it looks along the way. For some reason I decided to start at the top this year. Never again. We made it work, but there were a few hiccups along the way.

The music is Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee.

In case you’re wondering, the video was created using Gawker. It’s a free program for the Mac that’s simple to use and well worth trying out.

  2. That is great and you ARE So Tallented! I shot my tree decorating this year too. I used my new Nikon D7000 and actually shot a frame every one minute. I probably won’t be posting mine on the Internet… I am going to download that program and check it out. Merry Christmas!!

  4. Darla,

Your iMac has an iSight camera built in that Gawker (the program I linked to) can use. Basically, set Gawker to take a picture with your iSight camera every couple of seconds. It will compile the movie for you when you stop recording. It’s pretty straightforward. When you hit record, you’ll be given some basic options. The important one is the “Catpure frame every __ seconds”. I think I had mine set for every 3 seconds for this video.

Adding music is a different process, but this will get you started. Just ask if you have any questions!
