Our church is in the process of relocating and raising support to move southwest to Orland Park. As a part of the process Aldo and I were tasked with the responsibility of putting together videos to promote and explain the campaign. Here’s the first of two that we’ve produced. I’ll post the second one tomorrow. You can visit our Capital Campaign Website at www.movingforward2010.com.
I went to see Phil Wickham tonight at a church in Berwyn, IL. Every time I see him, I’m blown away by his talent. The guy can sing and play guitar like nobody’s business. This wasn’t so much a concert as it was a time where he led worship for the church’s 18-29 service.
A transformer near the church blew and all the power in the surrounding area went out about 20 minutes before the service was supposed to start. There was a brief delay as the team at the church scrambled to get candles out to make up for the lost lighting. What could have been a negative situation turned out to be a very meaningful experience. The absence of the sound system provided an intimate setting as a couple of hundred people joined their voices together in worship. The power did eventually return, however, but it was a good thing because it was starting to get hard to hear him with so many people singing out.
Do yourself a favor and go buy both of Phil’s albums (titled: “Phil Wickham” and “Cannons”) and then download his free live album from his website. You won’t be disappointed.
Here’s a short clip I made on my cellphone tonight. Doesn’t really do him justice, but it’s one of my favorite songs of his.
